Carlton Palmer joined Sheffield Wednesday from West Brom in 1989 for a fee of £750,000. A tall commanding central midfielder, Palmer graced the Hillsborough turf 263 times before being sold to Leeds United in June 1994. Palmer was part of the exciting Sheffield Wednesday team of the early 90’s, playing alongside creative players developed Palmers game and he was rewarded with his first England cap in 1992.  His displays made him a fans favourite
