Jack Charlton

England world cup winner Charlton became the boss of Wednesday in October 1977 having previously managed Middlesbrough.  Jack Charlton managed to turn Sheffield Wednesday from relegation candidates into a steady third division club, the season after he led Wednesday to promotion to the second division.  Two years later he managed Wednesday to within one point of promotion to the first division. He resigned in 1983.
