Jack Brown
Jack Brown is a legendary Wednesday goalkeeper from the 1920’s – 1930’s. Brown joined Sheffield Wed’s from non league Worksop Town in 1923 for a fee of £300 after receiving national acclaim after an F.A Cup tie against Spurs. During his first three seasons he battled for the number one spot against Teddy Davidson, eventually Brown became Wednesday number one in 1926. During this season he kept 16 clean sheets as Wednesday gained promotion to the first division, in the 1928-29 season he helped Wednesday to win the first division title. During his time at Hillsborough he played for England 6 times and amassed 507 league and cup appearances for Wednesday. He left at the end of the 1936-37 season due to losing his place.
