Sheffield United

Sheffield United are currently Sheffield's top team (open for debate within the city itself) in the football league. Set up at Bramall Lane Cricket Ground they began playing in 1889 as a way of keeping the team together over the winter. This followed the move of Sheffield Wednesday to their new ground at Olive Grove and United's formation also served to replace the lost income from this move.
